Artist’s Statement

Immersion is a video installation that explores the artist’s ability to manipulate temporal and spatial perception.
Visitors to the exhibition walk between two dark walls that isolate the experience.
Overhead, a slow-motion video reveals close-up images of water drops impacting on the surface of the water,
as viewed from beneath the surface.

The experience is one of immersion in the water, and a heightened temporal resolution.
Ambient sound (rain on the surface of a lake) plays at a normal time rate, providing a counterpoint to the slowed time rate of the visual.
